Papaya Dwarf ‘Know You’
The ‘Know You’ is a high-yielding hybrid dwarf papaya variety known for its sweet, yellow-fleshed fruit, averaging between 1.6 and 2.6 kg. The fruits are typically long and slender in shape, offering excellent quality and flavour. This variety is favored for its sturdy, thick-stemmed plants that are early to produce and consistently heavy-yielding. Fruit sets approximately 60 cm above the soil level, making it well-suited for smaller spaces and easier harvesting. Tolerant to Papaya Ring Spot Virus (PRSV). Ideal for home gardens and commercial cultivation, this dwarf variety combines disease resistance, early maturity, and excellent fruit quality. Because male and female flowers grow on separate trees, at least three trees are needed for pollination and fruit production.

It keeps soil consistantly and evenly moist, which is essential for the shallow root system of papaya plants. Mulch also helps suppress weeds, reducing competition for nutrients, and keeps the root zone temperature stable—cool in hot weather and warm in cooler conditions. Additionally, it minimizes soil splash, lowering the risk of fungal diseases on the lower leaves. Using organic mulch such as straw, compost, or shredded leaves not only offers these benefits but also enriches the soil as it breaks down. For best results, apply a 5–10 cm layer around the plant, keeping a small gap around the stem to prevent rot. However, it is important to remove all mulch during the rainy season to prevent excess moisture buildup and reduce the risk of root rot.
