Fig ‘Deanna’

The Deanna fig produces high yields of large green figs that ripen to a golden-yellow color with honey‐sweet, amber-to-strawberry pulp. A vigorous tree with dense growth and branches. With regular pruning, its size can be easily controlled, making it suitable for smaller spaces. Recommended tree spacing for Fig ‘Deanna’ in Zambia is 4m apart in rows and 6m between rows (400 plants per hectare).

Fig 'Deanna'

Fig 'Deanna' is an excellent variety that produces large, attractive fruits with smooth greenish-yellow skin and rich amber to strawberry-coloured flesh. The fruit is very sweet, juicy, and full of flavour, making it ideal for eating fresh, drying, baking, or preserving. It is a reliable and productive cultivar that bears heavy crops when grown under good conditions.

This vigorous deciduous tree is easy to grow and well suited to home gardens, orchards, and small farms. Once established, it is drought tolerant and thrives in warm, sunny climates. Like most figs, it produces the best crops when planted in a position that receives full sun and has well-drained soil.

Growing & Care Instructions:

Plant in full sun for the highest yields and best fruit quality.
Prefers fertile, well-drained soil but adapts to a wide range of soil types.
Water regularly while the tree is establishing, then only during extended dry periods.
Apply compost or a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and fruit production.
Prune during winter to remove dead or crowded branches and maintain a manageable shape.
Protect young trees from severe frost, although established trees are generally hardy.
