Fig ‘Adam’ is a reliable and productive fig variety valued for its sweet, rich flavour and attractive fruit. The tree produces medium to large figs with soft, juicy flesh and a pleasant sweetness, making them excellent for fresh eating, desserts, drying, or preserves. The tree has a strong growth habit with attractive, broad leaves and can be grown either in the ground or in large containers. With proper care, Fig ‘Adam’ rewards growers with consistent yields and long-term productivity.

Growing Guidelines

Climate
Fig ‘Adam’ thrives in warm climates with plenty of sunshine. It is well suited to regions with hot summers and mild winters. While mature trees can tolerate some cool weather, young trees should be protected from frost.

Sunlight
Plant in full sun for best growth and fruiting. A minimum of 6–8 hours of direct sunlight per day is recommended.

Soil
Figs prefer well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Sandy loam or loamy soils are ideal, but the tree can adapt to various soil types as long as drainage is good. Avoid waterlogged areas.

Planting
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth as in the nursery bag. Water well after planting and apply mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Watering
Water regularly during the first year to establish strong roots. Once established, Fig ‘Adam’ is fairly drought tolerant, but consistent watering during flowering and fruit development improves fruit size and quality.

Fertilising
Apply a balanced fertiliser or well-decomposed compost in early spring. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as this encourages leaf growth at the expense of fruit production.

Pruning
Light pruning is recommended to shape the tree and remove dead or weak branches. Prune during the dormant season or after harvesting to maintain an open structure and improve airflow.

Harvesting
Figs are ready to harvest when they soften slightly and develop full colour. Ripe figs do not ripen well off the tree, so pick them when fully mature for best flavour.

Fig ‘Adam’ is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a dependable, sweet-fruiting fig that is easy to grow and rewarding year after year.
