The Delicious Monster is a popular tropical plant famous for its large, hole-filled leaves and exotic fruit that tastes like a mix of banana and pineapple. It thrives as an indoor plant or as an outdoor climber in Zambia. Grows best in areas with dappled or partial light and well-drained soil. Monstera fruit is highly nutritious. It is a great source of vitamin C for your immune system, potassium for your heart, and dietary fiber for healthy digestion. However, it comes with a strict safety warning. The fruits can only be eaten when the green, hexagonal scales on the outside fall off naturally. If you eat the fruit while the scales are still attached, microscopic crystals (calcium oxalates) will cause a severe burning and stinging sensation in your mouth.

Growing & Care: Grow Monstera deliciosa in bright, indirect light or light shade, although it will tolerate lower light conditions. Plant in a rich, well-drained potting mix and water when the top few centimetres of soil have dried out. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage healthy growth. Provide a moss pole or other support for climbing, and protect the plant from direct afternoon sun and frost.
