Prickly Pear 'Algerian' is a vigorous, drought-tolerant cactus variety grown for its delicious, sweet fruit and attractive ornamental appearance. It produces large fruits with juicy, refreshing red flesh that can be enjoyed fresh or used in juices, jams, jellies, desserts, and syrups. The young pads (nopales) are also edible when prepared correctly.

Exceptionally well suited to hot, dry climates, this hardy plant requires very little water once established and is an excellent choice for water-wise gardens and orchards.
